Biographies:

1. Myra Hamaker-Schelb is a wildlife artist. She is fortunate to live in the Klamath Basin where the abundance and variety of wildlife have inspired and influenced her paintings. She joined Gallery 803 in 1995, and took classes with Dorothy Hale and Virginia Landon to learn the technique of watercolor and pastels. Even with over 20 years of experience, Myra continues to develop her art, taking workshop and classes from artists such as Pam Stoehsler and others. Myra has won numerous awards at Country Fairs, and earned 5th place at the Oregon State Fair in 2003. Myra's work is mainly in Acrylic, Watercolor, Pastel, and Oils.

2. Ruth Hollis was born in Kalispell, Montana. She has studied under several different artists, and attended numerous workshops. Her subject matter includes landscapes, wildlife, and florals - using the mediums of Oil, Acrylic, and Watercolor. Major Influence: "My Mother who encouraged my talent. My husband, Del, who introduced me to the outdoors on our many camping, fishing, and hunting trips where I developed a great awareness of animals, their habitats, and the beauty of nature." Artist Comments: "Capturing the quiet peaceful moments of nature gives me great pleasure. I give special attention to the little details to make my paintings enjoyable from a distance, or close up. I enjoy painting florals, wildlife, and landscapes, and have found painting local scenery, especially Crater Lake and the Tulelake, California Wildlife Refuge, very rewarding. 3. Glenda Lehrman is most widely known for her Native American portraits and character studies, in Oil and Pastel. This is reflective of her own heritage, being of Shasta Indian descent. "Faces of the people and all that they cherish" is the main theme of Glenda's paintings. Glenda has won many awards for her paintings in various shows. She has had paintings at the "Spirit of the West" show in Cheyenne, Wyoming - including Oil paintings of "Edison Chiloquin" and a portrait of "Princess Jennie" who was a historic figure of Jacksonville, Oregon. Glenda was recently featured in "Klamath Life" (published by the Herald and News) which showcased her life in Klamath, and her Art. Glenda grew up on an old, 80-acre farm in Klamath, with a beautiful lake view, and lots of wildlife. She and her husband now live there, where the peace and quiet and beauty provide much inspiration for her paintings. Drawing and painting have always been a part of her life. Glenda has taken various workshops with fine artists, from which she has developed her own style. Painting a life-like quality in the faces of loved ones, character studies, and pets is a rewarding and an exciting challenge. Glenda has been commissioned to paint many people and special pets. She has enjoyed the opportunity to meet and work with them. Glenda has been a member of Gallery 803 in Klamath Falls, since 1987. She has taught a youth art class there for six years, and also has taught oil portrait classes, and most recently a pastel portrait class for adults. Her paintings can be found in homes all across the United States. The Gallery has provided great opportunities for local sales, and sales to tourists from all over the country. "Painting to me, is a way to express the beauty of God's creation with the gift He has given me," says Glenda. "It is a way to share that beauty, as I see it, with others, and in some way, preserve an image for a moment in time!" Contact Glenda at (541) 884-5793.

4. Joyce Miles. Joyce Rae Miles (Sinnemaki) grew up in Kellogg, Idaho, and majored in art at the University of Idaho. She enjoys painting in a realistic style in all mediums. She specializes in wildlife art, landscapes, seascapes, and florals. She also paints wildlife on agate, sandstone, and other rock slabs. Joyce has taught painting in her home studio in Klamath Falls, Oregon, since 1972. In 1975, she was a founding partner of Gallery 803. She has sold her paintings through various other galleries as well as the Collier State Park Gift Shop in Southern Oregon. Joyce's art work hangs in more than 600 private and corporate collections in over 40 states and 8 countries. Major clients include the Weyerhaeuser Company, the United States Air Force, First National Bank, and several doctors' offices. She was the cover artist for the October 1990, 1994, and January 1996 issues of the Limelighter Entertainment Guide. Her work was also in the 1992 and 1997 Wildlife Art News Yearbook Collectors' Edition. She has participated in many solo and juried exhibits including the Wildlife Safari, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Ducks Unlimited shows. Her recent otter print, Naptime, received a People's Choice Award through the KSYS Public Television auction. Wildlife Art News chose Joyce's painting, Running the Rogue, as one of the illustrations for their feature Last Chance for Columbia Salmon (April/May 1996) and her raccoon remarque for the front cover of Footnotes (spring, 1996). Contact Joyce at 6402 Bryant Ave., Klamath Falls, OR 97603; (541) 884-4403.

5. Paula Walborn is originally from the Los Angeles area but considers herself a "Lucky Oregonian" coming to Klamath Falls in 1972. She and her husband, Avery, have been married for over 35 years and they have 2 children and 4 grandchildren. Though always being interested in art, she didn't begin to seriously pursue an art career until the early 1990's. She is currently a member artist at Gallery 803. She enjoys working in many different mediums including Acrylics, Watercolor, Pastel, Pen and Ink, and Prisma-Color colored pencil. Many of her works reflect her love of the sea and coastal areas. While in Hawaii, she discovered snorkeling and the underwater world of tropical fish, and enjoys portraying them in her work also. Many other subjects have captured her interest such as African animals, Oregon's majestic mountains, and wildlife. Paula considers her art to be an ongoing process and continues to explore different mediums and techniques by attending classes and workshops. Reaching for new ideas feeds her creativity and keeps her growing as an artist, and as a person. She also teaches classes at Gallery 803. Paula feels that art is a Gift from God, and it is a blessing to be able to share that gift with others. Her philosophy is to make her classes fun and relaxing, giving her students the opportunity to escape from the everyday stress of life. Paula accepts commissions, and can be reached at: 4702 Sturdivant Ave., Klamath Falls, OR 97603; (541) 884-7913.
