A free, fun-filled family event featuring BIRD WALKS, children's activities, face-painting, LIVE BIRDS, BIRD-BANDING by Lake Ewauna, artists with hands-on projects, BUILDING BIRD HOUSES, community displays, POP! PELICANS, crafts, vendors, plant sales, dancing, music, food, and more! Come and share in the incredible journeys of migratory birds! May 17, 2008 (Saturday) - TULELAKE MIGRATORY BIRD FESTIVAL at the Tule Lake Refuge Visitor Center, 8 am to 4 pm. Activities include airboat rides to Tule Lake Marsh, refuge habitat tours to the Lower Klamath and Tule Lake Wildlife Refuges, bird banding, live bird demonstrations, displays, vendors, and Tri-Tip BBQ. This year's event will include a historic look at the newly stabilized Mess Hall at the historic Civilian Conservation Corps Camp near the visitor center. See his bird bronzes including the new 8-foot-high pelican, African and Klamath Basin artwork, and view up close his backyard pond filled with a stunning variety of wild birds.
